Jason watches "The Tragical Historie of Guidolon, the Giant Space Chicken"

So normally I don't review DVD's, but this is a special case. It's a short animated film by local filmmaker Frank Wu. It didn't make it into Cinequest, but Wu was there handing out DVD's and I promised I'd write it up if he gave me one (over drinks with the cast, including a model of Guidolon. Which reminds me, somewhere there's a digital photo of me choking the chicken). Anyway, I finally got time to watch it, and it's crazy and hilarious.

Guidolon, voiced by Cinequest legend Chris Garcia, is a movie monster making a remake of a movie based on his life. The 70's original was a huge bomb, but with the new wave of 70's remakes the studio has given him a chance to remake it. Of course, there's still insane freakin' problems, mostly studio interference. But it's nothing the love of a good triceratops and a Deus ex Mexicana ending can't solve. And for the record, XXXX Line temporarily expunged for competition reasons XXXX is the most freakin' romantic line ever (which could explain why I'm single).

Guidolon could perhaps be my next hero. But, alas, how can I see it? Oh wait, maybe Jason could send it to me or burn a copy since it was being given away anyhow. Just a hint. On another subject, soon you will be receiving the book "Fast Food Nation." Enjoy your burger.

Well, I was already planning on it being part of the Wiener Family Film Festival, but I suppose I could send it to you as a sneak preview.

Family Film Festival would be fine. Gives me something to look forward to..."I've got a brand new combine harvester...."

Ha ha ha. I started watching Guidolon on Michaela's link. Watched only one minute before I knew I had to watch it on my 8 foot wide screen. So I turned it off and will wait for the WienerFamily Film Festival. BTW Jason, did you ever get the copy of Pumpkinhead 3 from Jake "combine harvester" West? Could it be an entry into the WienerFamily Film Festival for 2007?
