Jason watches "The Simpsons Movie"

Because after all this festival fare, I wanted to relax with something easy that I knew would make me laugh. And it did. And it tempted me to move back to Alaska. There's no better place to run from your problems.

Okay, now there probably won't be new posts for a couple of weeks. I'm traveling on business all next week and then as soon as I get back I'm leaving for Burning Man. So even if I do see movies, I probably won't have a chance to post.

You were tempted to move back? Shame, shame... you'd have to pull a unibomber, I'm afraid.

That, or get some insider trading on flicks & your own generator. And some of that sweet, sweet Venezuelan gas..

What more can you say about our great state! Long live the Corrupt Bastards Club. Keep feeding my Permanent Fund Dividend.

All I have to say is that in a summer that has kind of really sucked for movies, except Tebby Assassin of course, this one was actually good. The new Harry Potter was good as well. We went to see it in IMAX so the last 20 minutes were in 3D. Awesome!!! The thing I don't get about the Simpons is that they charged for their movie. The show has been on for so many seasons that some have lost count, but it has always been free. I think they missed an opportunity to do something really cool and just release the movie for free on television. Yeah yeah yeah, going to the theater is cool, but not as cool as not paying 9 bucks and up to see a movie that would look almost as good on a nice TV. This has been my argument for a long time. Theaters are not providing an experience that is a whole lot better than what can be provided in the home for a resonable amount of money except for large format theaters. It's worth paying to see an Odyssey or "IMAX" or IMAX movie, yes the quotes are intentional, since it's an experience that can't easily be reproduced in the home, but paying 9 bucks for a regular sized screen and outdated sound system to wile other people farts during a movie..... Anyway, at least it was funny. I spent 9 bucks to see 300 and it mostly sucked so at least this was money well spent.

Well, we went in the afternoon and only paid $6.50 to see the Simpsons (in a mostly empty theatre. So anything we smelled, was "our own." Anyway, there are a lot of movies that look just great on my home system (10 feet from the screen, 8 foot wide screen). And my sound is as good as in the theatre. But some movies look great when they're REALLY big. Don't know if the Simpson's is one of those, but I'll be trying it out on my home system as soon as it's out. Oh, and based on Baceman007, and Gared3 (Kevin), I didn't bother to see "300." Thanks for saving me a few bucks.
